Op 4 and 5 November finds InScience Amazing Discoveries place, featuring the seven most impressive and memorable films in InScience history. From mind-blowing journeys in interstellar space to ethical challenges in cryogenic technology, moving portraits of legendary scientists and animated explorations of philosophy – we’ve rounded up a series of films and talks that will blow your mind.

This means you will spend the weekend of November 4 and 5 discovering the wonders of our galaxy in The Farthest, an epic retelling of the Voyager mission to interstellar space, told by the scientists who embarked on this fascinating mission. Bring your perspective back to Earth with Inventing Tomorrow, an overwhelmingly positive take on climate change solutions and the teens who invented them. Take a kaleidoscopic journey through the curious mind and world of Noam Chomsky with Michel Gondry’s animated film Is The Man Who Is Tall Happy? Another animated movie, Absolute Denialis a unique and heart-pounding tale of artificial intelligence and psychological demise, not to be missed!

We are also very pleased to have you The Peacemaker present, an intriguing portrait of renowned Professor Padraig O’Malley and his mission to create peace in some of the most dangerous crisis areas on Earth, while grappling with his own addiction problems. A crowd favorite that returns this year is Hope Frozen, a compelling documentary about the life of a Thai family and their cryogenically frozen daughter. Finally, experience the trials and tribulations of one of the most fascinating figures of contemporary science in Oliver Sacks: His Own Life.

Of course there is more to see at InScience than meets the eye. We strive to enrich every film we screen with presentations, discussions and debates from leading thinkers and creators on topics surrounding each film. This special edition is no different! We are very excited to practice, explore and expand our knowledge and understanding of the world around us with speakers, including director of the Max Planck Institute Peter Hagoort; expert in palliative care Yvonne Engels; Assistant Professor of Care and Welfare at HAN Erik Jansen; Neurologist Bas Bloem of Radboudumc; and astrophysicists Hyerin Jang and Antonio Vecchio from Radboud University. We also provide a platform for young creators and creators from HAN, who will pitch new and inspiring innovations and solutions to our climate crisis, and organize a challenging and engaging discussion on artificial intelligence with researchers from the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour.
