Insects that help avoid car accidents!| Insects to help avoid car accidents!

How do insects like grasshoppers fly in dense swarms without colliding with each other? For that nature has given a nervous system in the brain of insects.

Scientists at the Pennsylvania State University in the United States have developed a sensor based on the motivation of this nervous system of insects.

This special sensor will help the automated vehicles that are currently on the road to avoid collisions with other vehicles. This photoelectric sensor, called an ‘optoelectronic sensor’, has eight ‘memtransistors’ that can sense light. Made of molybdenum #’disulfide’, these sensors have a total size of 40 square ‘micrometers’.

The sensor is much smaller in size and consumes less power than existing ‘collision avoidance’ sensors. At night, the sensor can adjust the brightness of the headlights of oncoming vehicles, predict the distance between the two vehicles, and help avoid collisions.
