GOMA – The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) have once again accused M23 terrorists of violating the ceasefire by opening fire on self-defense groups, known as Wazalendo, in North Kivu.

It is in a press release read by Colonel Guillaume Ndjike, spokesperson for the army in North Kivu, that the FARDC deplores this umpteenth violation of the ceasefire by the M23, accused of being supported by Rwanda . “Every day, these terrorists attack positions held by patriotic resistance fighters, thus ignoring the ceasefire recommended by the United States of America and the international community. Every day, Rwandan troops continue to enter Congolese territory to disrupt the ceasefire process,” denounced Colonel Guillaume Ndjike.

He also indicated that the Congolese army continues to respect its commitment and calls the international community to witness the risk of resumption of hostilities due to the warlike spirit of Kigali, non-respectful of the word given and the commitments made. “If this situation continues,” he warned, “the FARDC will take the necessary measures to respond to these provocations.”

Recall that new violent fighting has been reported since last week between the M23 rebels and the so-called Wazalendo self-defense groups.
