The director of Rural Development of Reynosa, Carlos Ramirez Lopezpointed out that in recent months there have been violent clashes between rival groups disputing the area.
Despite the insecurity that plagues Reynosa, Tamaulipas is currently not among the 5 most dangerous states in Mexico.
Insecurity left 10 ghost towns in Reynosa: Residents move to the border
About the wave of insecurity that left 10 ghost towns in Reynosathe director of Rural Development pointed out that its residents were forced to move to border areas.
He explained that the majority moved to the urban area of Reynosa, while others crossed to towns in the Texas Valley, in the United States.
Carlos Ramírez López explained that the 10 ghost towns in Reynosa correspond to the communities of:
- Parakeets
- The Puddle
- Doroteo Arango
- Garza Congregation
- Rojo Gomez
- Pedro María Anaya
- Martin Rocha
- Pedro J. Mendez
- Corrales
- The Warrior
However, these 10 ghost towns in Reynosa would not be the only ones affected, since at least other 86 communities were affected by some criminal act during the year.
Tamaulipas is not among the 5 most dangerous states in Mexico 2024
The Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP) published a report that includes updated data on the incidence of crime in Mexico.
According to the data on intentional homicides committed in November 2024, it is established that Tamaulipas does not occupy a place among the 5 most dangerous states in the country.
