Inspection campaigns to control scrap violations and protect the electricity company’s property

The Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity announced that the branches of the General Administration of Electricity Police continue to implement their security campaigns on scrap shops, in order to control violations related to the sale and purchase of wires, materials and equipment of the General Electricity Company.

The Ministry stated that these campaigns come within the framework of efforts to enhance security and ensure everyone’s commitment to the applicable laws, and to reduce the phenomenon of theft of electrical equipment, which negatively affects the services of the General Electricity Company and causes power outages in many areas.

The General Administration of Electricity Police confirmed that these campaigns are continuing in various cities and regions, with the aim of eliminating this illegal phenomenon, and ensuring that no materials belonging to the General Electricity Company are dealt with except through legal means.

The General Department of Electrical Police called on scrap shop owners to adhere to the laws and avoid dealing with stolen or illegal materials, stressing that violators will be subject to legal accountability and deterrent penalties in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
