The Emergency and Rapid Response Committee of the Ministry of Water Resources of the Libyan government, assigned by Parliament, headed by Engineer Ayyad Al-Qabaili, conducted an inspection tour of Wadi Al-Qattara and Wadi Gaza, east of Benghazi, to review the readiness of dams and earth barriers.
In Wadi Al-Qattara, the committee inspected the dams and earth barriers, to ensure their ability to deal with any potential water flows during the winter.
The committee also reviewed the emergency plans prepared to deal with crises in this region. In Wadi Gaza, the committee found a similar situation, as it examined the dams and earth barriers there, and ensured their readiness for the expected weather conditions in the winter. The emergency plans prepared for this region were also reviewed.
At the end of the tour, the committee stressed the importance of continuing to maintain the water infrastructure and updating emergency plans regularly, while emphasizing the need for close coordination between the relevant authorities to ensure a rapid and effective response in the event of any emergency.
