Inspections to detect expatriates who have violated residency rules; Many people were arrested

Manama: Officials conducted checks to find expatriates violating residency rules in Bahrain. More than fifty foreigners were arrested. Officials from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science and the Labor Market Regulatory Authority were present for the inspection.

The Director of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science said that 54 people, citizens of various African countries, were arrested. Proceedings are in progress to hand over the case against them to the public prosecution.

Police arrested three expatriates who were manufacturing and selling alcohol in Bahrain. The incident happened in Manama. The authorities informed that the Asians were arrested.

Officers also recovered large barrels of liquor. Capital Governorate Prosecution Chief informed that these have been seized. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. They also showed the methods of making alcohol. The arrested expatriates are being held in prison. After completion of investigation into the incident, the case will be handed over for criminal trial.
