jpnn.com – PEKANBARU – Riau Regional Police Chief Inspector General Mohammad Iqbal said he was proud of the performance of the Indonesian U-23 National Team squad against Uzbekistan in the semifinals of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Doha, Qatar, Monday (29/4) evening.
Inspector General Iqbal watched together (nobar) the match between Indonesia and Uzbekistan with the people of Pekanbaru City, at the Riau Regional Police Headquarters.
The former Head of the National Police Public Relations Division expressed his pride in the struggle of the Garuda Muda squad.
Even though Rizki Ridho et al continue to be pressured by the Uzbekistan players, Iqbal sees that their struggle has been maximized and deserves appreciation.
“I don’t see this as a failure. The Garuda Muda squad’s efforts were optimal. However, Uzbekistan’s performance was slightly better,” said Iqbal.
He said that the fighting spirit and nationalism of the Indonesian U-23 National Team was very high and extraordinary.
Inspector General Iqbal mentioned Muhammad Ferrari’s goal which was disallowed by the referee after a Video Assistant Review (VAR) review.
According to him, the referee’s decision had an impact on the final result of the match.
