Pithapithi two tours. That too against Pakistan and India. It’s been a long time. The cricketers will have to fly to India without getting over the joy of the historic Test series win in Pakistan. Although Pakistan plays only red ball cricket, India also has three white ball T20 matches.
The cricketers of the T20 team started practice on Wednesday. Zaker Ali, Mahmudullah Riyad, Afif Hossain, Soumya Sarkar, Shamim Hossain Patwaris sweated in Mirpur under the supervision of local coach Sohail Islam. Taking inspiration from Bangladesh’s success in Pakistan, they are looking for something big in India.
Team cricketer Zaker Ali believes that India will not take them lightly this time. “We have now practiced for the white ball series of the tour of India,” said Zaker Ali in Mirpur. We won a great series with Pakistan. This win is a great inspiration for all of us. Everyone played well. India will not take us lightly this time either. Former Indian cricketers are also urging them to give importance to the Bangladesh series.
Despite the change in format, the confidence of success in Pakistan will also help them. Zakir said, ‘It doesn’t matter if it is played with red or white ball. When teams perform well against bigger opponents, a different kind of confidence builds. I will go to India with that confidence to win. Such is our mentality now. India will aim to achieve the best results in the series.
Cricketers have credited local coaches for their success in Pakistan. Several Test team cricketers camped with Mizanur Rahman Babul and Sohail Islam for two months. Hoping to get good results from this white ball camp, Zaker said, ‘Sohail sir, Babul sir has seen us since childhood. They have a good idea about each cricketer. The impact is also high. I think the way they take care of us, this is how our white ball preparation camp started from today. In this way they watch us step by step. So I think their role is much greater.’
Zaker is playing with Nazmul Hossain Shanta from youth cricket. Shanta’s leadership qualities have been seen since then. Praising the captain, Zaker said, ‘You have seen how great captaincy Shanta has done. This result of the series is proof of that. Shanta took several risks in the series. When you take risks as a captain, the results may or may not come in your favor. But most of the time positive things happen for the team. However, a captain should have the courage to take risks. which Shantar has.’
Bangladesh will tour India on September 15. The tour will start with the first test on September 19.
