Kristen Bay, a spokeswoman for Meta, said the company “recognizes that some people are having trouble accessing Instagram Stories.” Bey said Instagram is “working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible” and apologize for the inconvenience, according to The Verge.
The main problem seems to be that Instagram doesn’t remember where I left off when viewing someone’s stories, for example, if one of my friends posted five stories, and I looked at four of them before I walked out, the next time I tap their icon, I’m supposed to see their fifth story.
Instead, Instagram makes the user go back through the four they’ve already seen every time they watch the story. The problem also appears when someone posts a new story to their feed.
The number of affected users is currently unknown, there are a lot of people on Twitter stating that they have to re-watch Stories, but Instagram is not going as well as I would expect if a major feature of it is broken for everyone.
