The social network Instagram has started the deployment of a new feature that allows your user base to generate and share a QR code from a post, ‘Reels’ or location.

Instagram incorporated QR codes to locate profiles quickly in August 2020. Thanks to this feature especially aimed at companies, users avoided entering and searching for names within the ‘app’.

Instagram has expanded the reach of these QR codes, whiche can now also be used to share posts, ‘Reels’ and locations, not just profiles. The user is able to generate them from the menu with tres points from the mobile version and on the web, in which you must add /qr to the address of what they want to share.

A spokesperson for Meta Platforms, the parent company of Instagram, has confirmed this new function to the specialized portal TechCrunch. Furthermore, he has claimed that the social network seeks to “make it easier for people and businesses to share specific content.”

Reverse engineering expert Alessandro Paluzzi already teased this ability to generate and share a post QR code at the end of March. In April, he confirmed that Instagram was still working on the development of this featurewhich is already beginning to be available to the general public.
