Instagram has now started adding comments to stories on the platform. The social media platform announced this new feature “Comments in Stories” a few days ago during the launch of Creator Lab in India and now it has been rolled out for users. The post read, “Now you can show your love to friends by commenting on their stories.”
Previously, there was no feature to publicly comment on Instagram Stories, but with this new feature, users can comment on someone’s Stories, and these comments will be visible to other users as well.
The Meta-owned social media platform has also imposed two limitations on this feature. First, the comments will be visible only to those who follow the user who posted the story. Also, only those who follow back the user can comment on stories. These limitations have been added to prevent trolling.
Comments made on the story will be visible for 24 hours after the story is posted. If the story is saved as a highlight on the profile, the comments will also remain. Instagram also allows users to turn off comments on a per-story basis. Speaking to technology news website ‘The Verge’, Instagram spokesperson Emily Norfolk said that users can choose to turn comments on or off for any story.
Recently, Instagram has launched another new feature that allows users to add text to their photos within their post editor itself, eliminating the need for an external photo editing app. Along with this, Instagram has also launched new text fonts, effects, and animations for Reels and Stories.
