Installation of the Morocco/Argentina friendship group at the Argentine Congress

Buenos Aires – The Morocco/Argentina parliamentary friendship group was officially installed on Thursday in the Argentine Congress, in the presence of the Moroccan ambassador, Fares Yassir, and the group’s president, deputy Maria Emilia Orozco.

The Morocco/Argentina Friendship Group is composed of 12 deputies representing the entire political spectrum of the Argentine Congress. On this occasion, the president of the group stressed the willingness of the Argentine Congress to work for the consolidation of friendly ties with Morocco and for a closer rapprochement in the economic, social and cultural fields. Emilia Orozco did not fail to point out that the installation of the group coincides with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Throne Day, affirming that this last quarter century has been synonymous with “development, prosperity and consolidation of democracy” in the Kingdom. For his part, Fares Yassir affirmed that for Argentina, Morocco considers itself “a friendly country, a reliable, stable economic partner that respects its commitments”, recalling that the two countries commemorate next year the 65th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. Highlighting the central role played by parliamentary diplomacy, the Moroccan ambassador invited the members of the group, and through them the entire Argentine Chamber of Deputies, to act hand in hand to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation uniting the two countries. Fares Yassir listed the many points on the agenda of bilateral cooperation, emphasizing respect for the territorial integrity of States, climate change, food and energy security, the fight against the scourge of terrorism, drug trafficking and migration. The other members of the friendship group expressed their willingness to move forward in enriching the bilateral agenda, with new agreements in the fields of agriculture, academia, renewable energy, tourism and fisheries. In addition to Emilia Orozco, the friendship group is made up of deputies Emma Nicolas, Alvaro Gonzalez, Jorge Araujo Hernandez, Carlos Cisneros, Ana Carolina Gaillard, Ricardo Herrera, Marcela Fabiana Passo, Eduardo Valdés, Maria Cecilia Ibanez, Esteban Paulo and Agustin Domingo. The installation of the friendship group took place in the presence of the Director of Parliamentary Diplomacy and International Cooperation, Luciana Términe and members of the press accredited to the Congress.
