The Institute of Health Sciences (ICS), of the University of International Integration of Afro-Brazilian Lusofonia (Unilab), met with the Health Secretaries of municipalities in the Maciço de Baturité/CE region on the 7th. , teaching, research and extension practices of Unilab courses in the area of ​​Health were presented, with a view to expanding partnership actions between universities and cities. The Health Secretaries of Acarape, Aracoiaba and Guaiúba participated, respectively Dara Oliveira (representative), Valdson de Aquino and Rilson de Andrade.

On that occasion, the implementation process of Pharmacy and Medicine courses at Unilab was presented. The first, already in operation, awaits an evaluation visit by the Ministry of Education (MEC) later this year. The commission for the implantation of the Medicine course has been working to align the graduation demands with the services of the Health network, including basic health units and hospitals.

In the speech of municipal managers, the need to increase partnerships and listen more to ICS/Unilab was pointed out in order to improve health units to receive university students and professors.

The ICS directors and the course coordinators pointed out the institute’s potential to contribute to the qualification, qualification and training of civil servants in the municipalities. Thus, visits to the municipalities have already been scheduled to learn more about the health services and to raise demands for qualifications and training for the servers.

The Center for Comprehensive Health Care (Cais) was also presented, with the aim of aligning partnerships for referring patients to the services offered at the center.

Another interesting point of the meeting was the possibility of extracurricular internships for Nursing and Pharmacy students at Unilab.
