by time news

At least 150 supporters of far-right ex-president Jair Bolsonaro have been arrested after the invasion and ransacking of Brazil’s main places of power on Sunday in Brasilia, according to several media.

Images from the CNN Brazil channel showed Bolsonarists dressed in yellow and green descending in single file, hands behind their backs, the ramp of the presidential palace of Planalto, surrounded by police. On other images, we can see a bus full of demonstrators arrested leaving in the direction of a police station.

The police attached to the Senate announced that they had arrested 30 people in the Chamber, one of the places of power stormed by the Bolsonarists, in the same way as the neighboring Chamber of Deputies, the presidential palace and the Supreme Court.

As night fell in the Brazilian capital, law enforcement appeared to be gradually regaining control of the situation, with water cannons keeping protesters at bay, although dozens of protesters remained in place and the situation remained confused.
