He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the Bill Collection Award distribution ceremony of Dhaka Wasa for the financial year 2022-23 at the capital’s elite hotel on Sunday (March 10). Three private banks and three mobile financial service companies were awarded at the event.
At this time, the local government minister took a stand against the subsidy system in the water and electricity sector and said, ‘We have to make a united effort to increase people’s income, so that people can buy and spend electricity and water with their own money.’
He pointed out the need for subsidies in the agricultural sector and said, “In the agricultural sector, we need to strengthen the marketing system of farmers and their products, so that we do not have to pay subsidies in the future.”
Md. At this time, Tajul Islam emphasized on keeping the rivers around Dhaka free from pollution and said that in order to keep the capital city of Dhaka livable, it is necessary to make these rivers clean and navigable.
The minister said that clean water is one of the most important needs of people. Although there were many deficiencies before WASA, the water supply system of the residents of Dhaka has been improved by solving them.
He also said that initiatives have been taken to strengthen the sewage system in Dhaka by dividing it into five parts.
