New Delhi ∙ Controversy over BJP Uttarakhand President Mahendra Bhatt’s action of ordering the cadres to take pictures of houses that do not hoist the national flag.
Bhatt’s controversial suggestion was made at the party program held last day in connection with the 75th anniversary of independence. Bhatt said that the country cannot trust those who do not hoist the national flag and this way it will be possible to identify who is a nationalist. Then they asked to take pictures of the houses that did not raise the flag.
As the incident became controversial, Bhatt came up with the justification that he had only said about the houses of BJP workers. State Congress leader Karan Mahara alleged that the national flag had not been hoisted at the RSS headquarters before and they could not be trusted according to Bhatt’s standards.
