In Saudi Arabia, insulting the national flag or the royal flag is punishable. The warning comes amid widespread use of the national flag as part of Saudi Foundation Day celebrations. The Saudi Public Prosecution has warned that violating the order could result in imprisonment for up to a year and a fine of up to half a million rupees.
The public prosecution said it was an offense under the Saudi flag law to insult the national flag in any other way, to insult the flag, to lower the flag to the ground, to insult or insult any other symbol of the country, out of hatred or contempt for the country or the state.
