Launched on the sidelines of Gitex Africa Morocco, this initiative has the essential objective of promoting the emergence of “insurtechs”, in this case, innovative startups in the insurance sector and of strengthening their integration into the Moroccan entrepreneurial ecosystem.
On this occasion, Hicham Zanati Serghini, Managing Director of Tamwilcom, stressed, in a statement to MAP, that this collaboration aims to integrate the Insurtech sector into the ecosystem, while encouraging the emergence of innovative startups.
“We recognise the highly regulated nature of this sector, where compliance is of paramount importance. In partnership with ACAPS, we are committed to ensuring that these projects meet industry standards,” he added.
Mr. Serghini also highlighted the commitment of both parties to collaborate with the various players in the ecosystem, in order to present the opportunities offered by the sector, to identify the startups involved in Insurtech and to evaluate, by ricochet, the progress made in this field next year.
For his part, Abderrahim Chaffai, president of ACAPS, stressed the importance of this partnership in the development of the ecosystem of startups in the insurance sector.
He recalled that Tamwilcom has a portfolio of projects to finance and support, which may be interested in the development of Insurtech.
“As regulators, we support these startups at all stages of their development, providing them with legal advice and ensuring their regulatory compliance to facilitate their growth,” he said.
Furthermore, Mr. Chaffai affirmed that this collaboration marks a significant step forward in supporting innovative startups in the insurance sector, by uniting the efforts of financial institutions and regulators to create an environment favorable to their expansion.
Gitex Africa, with more than 1,500 exhibitors representing more than 130 countries, is a major crossroads promoting exchanges on the latest technological advances, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, health and cybersecurity.
