Baghdad / Obelisk Al-Hadath: Today, Friday, the Federal Integrity Commission announced the issuance of two prison sentences against a director of a government bank in Diyala Governorate. For embezzling about (225,000,000) million dinars.
A statement by the Investigation Department stated, “The Diyala Criminal Court / First Instance issued two decisions in the presence of imprisonment for a period of six years each; Based on the provisions of Article (316) of the Penal Code, against the former director of the Agricultural Bank – Baladruz Branch; For embezzling an amount of (224,749,750) million dinars from the installments deposited by the borrowers, noting that the embezzlement process took place during the years (2015 and 2016), when an amount of (119,445,750) million dinars was embezzled in the year 2015, and an amount of (105,304,000) in the year 2016.
She added, “The convict embezzled the annual installments paid by the borrowers for receiving loans; For the purpose of digging artesian wells, establishing poultry fields, and providing them with receipts signed by her, pointing out that the convict admitted to receiving the amounts of the installments, and disposing of them for her personal account.
And she continued, “The court, after reviewing the evidence obtained in the case represented by the defendant’s confession, the statements of witnesses, and the arrest receipts signed by her, issued two judgments in the presence of imprisonment for a period of six years for each of them against the convict, obliging her to pay the embezzled sums to the bank, and giving the right to the affected party to refer to the civil courts to demand compensation.”
