Integrity Commission arrests an engineer in the Urban Planning Directorate red-handed taking a bribe in Anbar

The Federal Integrity Commission reported today, Tuesday, that it had arrested a defendant red-handed while receiving a bribe in the Urban Planning Directorate in Anbar Governorate.

The Media and Government Communication Office of the Commission stated, while talking about the arrest operation carried out by a team composed of the Anbar Investigation Office; based on a judicial memorandum, in a statement received by the (INA), that “the team set up a tight ambush for an employee working in the Urban Planning Directorate in the governorate as an engineer, on the basis of his request for financial sums “bribe”; in exchange for smoothing the transaction of one of the reviewers.”

He added that “the team caught the accused red-handed in possession of the bribe he received from the auditor, noting that the judge of the investigative court specialised in examining integrity cases in Ramadi decided to detain the accused pending investigation; based on the provisions of Resolution (160 of 1983).”

It is noteworthy that Resolution No. (160 of 1983) stipulated the imposition of a prison sentence of no less than five years and no more than ten years and a fine on every employee or person charged with a public service who requested or accepted for himself or for another a gift, benefit or advantage, or a promise of something of that sort; in order to perform a job function, refrain from doing so or breach the duties of the job.
