The American company Intel has suspended deliveries of products to its customers in Russia and Belarus due to the situation in Ukraine. The company published such a statement on Friday, March 4, on its website.

It is specified that Intel also launched a campaign to collect donations in support of its employees and their families who are located in Ukraine and the territories closest to them. Over $1.2 million has already been raised.

On the eve of Thursday, March 3, it became known that the Swedish company IKEA is suspending its activities in Russia and Belarus.

On March 2, clothing brand Karl Lagerfeld announced a decision to temporarily suspend sales in Russia. The world’s largest chain of clothing and footwear stores Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) Group announced the same decision. Then it became known that the British online store ASOS suspended the delivery of goods to Russia.

The sanctions are imposed in response to Russia’s conduct of a special operation in the Donbass, which was announced on February 24 by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Then the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov clarified that the special operation had two goals – the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. He pointed out that both of these aspects pose a threat to the Russian state and people.

On February 21, Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DNR and LNR). Also, the President of the Russian Federation and the heads of both republics Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin signed treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance, including military assistance.

The head of state made the relevant decisions against the backdrop of the aggravation of the situation in Donbass that began on February 17. The DPR and LPR reported heavy shelling by Ukrainian security forces, including from heavy weapons. The republics announced a general mobilization and evacuation of civilians to the territory of Russia.
