Intel to Invest $1B in Semiconductor Startups

On Monday, Intel Corporation, one of the largest players in the semiconductor market, announced the creation of a $1 billion fund to support startups specializing in semiconductors, as well as to invest in the ecosystem as a whole. Particular attention will be paid to companies working on technologies that will accelerate the introduction of new products to the market, such as tool software in this area, the creation of innovative chip architecture, advanced microchip packages.

Also on Monday, Intel Foundry Services, the corporation’s contract chip manufacturing arm created last year, announced the formation of the Accelerator Alliance. This alliance involves partnerships with companies involved in the development of microchips; now it includes 17 companies. Intel will give members of the alliance access to its various developments and toolkits in this area.

Last year, Intel announced that it would invest $20 billion in chip design and manufacturing. With the ongoing shortage of microchips, the largest companies in this sector are investing tens of billions of dollars in development and production ramp-up.
