American companies Intel and Microsoft have teamed up to produce modern processors. Bloomberg reports this, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.

The production of semiconductor equipment will be carried out by a subsidiary of Intel Foundry. It is specified that the chips will be manufactured using the Intel 18A technical process. The order amounted to $15 billion.

“We are in the midst of an exciting platform transition that will fundamentally change the productivity of every individual organization and the entire industry,” said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. According to him, this is why the company needed a strong partner who would provide it with new generation processors.

According to media journalists, Intel will thereby repeat the path of the Taiwanese company Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), which produces chips in partnership with Apple, Qualcomm and AMD. The authors also noted that IT giants are organizing their own semiconductor production in order to be less dependent on external negative factors.
