Intelic Unifies Multi-Vendor Counter-Drone Systems in European First

Dutch defense technology company Intelic achieved a European first during a counter-uncrewed aerial systems field test in Latvia by using its NEXUS platform to connect multi-vendor sensors, command-and-control software, and an interceptor drone into a single operational workflow.

Counter-UAS Field Test in Latvia Unifies Multi-Vendor Systems

Defense forces across Europe face mounting pressure as uncrewed aerial threats increase. Operators must detect incoming hazards, distinguish between friendly and hostile systems, and coordinate across disparate sensors and effectors within seconds. Traditionally, these capabilities operate in isolation, forcing commanders and operators to manually bridge technological gaps between radars, radio frequency detection gear, battle management systems, and interceptor drones.

To tackle that fragmentation, Intelic joined European partners in Latvia for a live counter-drone field test. Rather than treating each piece of hardware as a standalone unit, the exercise deployed the NEXUS command-and-control platform as an overarching software orchestration layer.

How the Software Orchestration Loop Operates Without Radio Delays

The demonstration proved how mixed-vendor equipment can share data in real time without requiring manual radio relay steps between detection and interception. When any connected sensor spotted an airborne target, the data fed directly into the shared operational interface.

This closed software loop allows a counter-uncrewed aerial systems team to move from initial detection to tactical coordination in a matter of seconds, bypassing the usual communication bottlenecks that slow down engagements.

Headquartered in the Netherlands, Intelic specializes in software-defined interoperability for autonomous and uncrewed systems. Its technology ecosystem includes the NEXUS command platform alongside the BASE procurement hub, both designed to unify disparate platforms under a single operational picture.

Company leadership emphasized that the software does not force military forces to discard their existing hardware investments. Instead, NEXUS integrates legacy tools while supplying the missing tactical tasking layer.

The challenge in counter-UAS is not only detecting a threat or having the right effector available. It is connecting those capabilities so that you can respond in seconds. In Latvia, we demonstrated how NEXUS brings that chain together – from sensor to decision to effect – within a single operational environment.

By bridging intelligence, battle management, and shooter ecosystems across multiple vendors, the NEXUS platform enables mixed uncrewed fleets to operate cohesively even when offensive uncrewed systems, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance assets, and counter-drone units utilize separate interfaces.
