Many current IPS officers have been transferred in Tamil Nadu. Asiammal, who was the Intelligence IG, has been transferred and appointed as the Enforcement Directorate IG. Now the Home Secretary has issued an order appointing Senthilvelan as IG of Intelligence.
Similarly, Deshmukh Shekhar Sanjay has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Tiruvallikeni Police. Maheshwaran has been appointed as State Human Rights Commission SP.
The change of Intelligence IG is gaining importance now that there have been many criticisms such as that the intelligence did not properly inform about the violence and riots in the Kallakurichi student issue and that adequate measures were not taken.
