Title: U.S. Ambassador Confirms Intelligence Linking Indian Agents to Murder of Sikh Leader in Canada

Date: September 23, 2023

U.S. Ambassador to Canada, David Cohen, has confirmed the existence of shared intelligence among Five Eyes partners, which informed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau about the possible involvement of Indian agents in the murder of a Canadian citizen. This revelation has prompted an angry response from New Delhi, which vehemently denies the allegations.

The intelligence-sharing network, known as Five Eyes, consists of the United States, Britain, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. According to CTV News, Ambassador Cohen disclosed that the information was shared with Prime Minister Trudeau, indicating the potential role of Indian agents in the killing of Sikh separatist leader, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, in Vancouver.

Speaking about the matter, Ambassador Cohen stated, “I will say this was a matter of shared intelligence information. There was a lot of communication between Canada and the United States about this, and I think that’s as far as I’m comfortable going.” These statements were made during an interview with CTV News, which will be aired on Sunday.

The Canadian government reportedly collected intelligence from both human and electronic sources during the months-long investigation into Nijjar’s murder. CBC News separately reported this development on Thursday. However, Ambassador Cohen did not provide details regarding the type of intelligence that informed the Canadian government’s investigation.

In response to the allegations raised by Prime Minister Trudeau, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed deep concern and emphasized the importance of India cooperating with Canada in the investigation. Blinken remarked, “It would be important that India work with the Canadians on this investigation. We want to see accountability.”

The U.S. government has made its expectations clear, urging the Indian government to collaborate with Canada in uncovering the truth behind Nijjar’s murder. These recent developments have added strain to the diplomatic ties between India and Canada.

As the investigation unfolds, the international community will be closely monitoring the outcome of this case, emphasizing the need for transparency and justice.
