Playing a safe game, Inter de Limeira built their victory with less than 15 minutes of play. With lightning goals from Gustavo Bochecha and Juninho, they beat São Bernardo 2-0, at the Major Levy Sobrinho stadium, in Limeira, this Thursday, in the fifth round of the Campeonato Paulista. It was Inter de Limeira’s first victory in the competition, which left Corinthians at the bottom of Group C.
With four points, the Limeira team jumped to second place, overtaking Red Bull Bragantino, who also has four, on goal difference (0 to -1). And Corinthians only has three points and is fourth. Mirassol, with six, leads.
The home team started with a bang. Occupying the attacking field well, Gustavo Bochecha opened the scoring after just 11 minutes. Éverton Brito crossed to the edge of the area and the midfielder made a beautiful first-time shot, without letting the ball fall to the ground. A beautiful goal. Stunned, São Bernardo left space and Juninho expanded soon after, at 14. The attacker received the ball on the left wing, dodged the defender and hit the goalkeeper.
With the score opened early, Inter de Limeira retreated and tried to explore more counterattacks. Little by little, the ABC team began to balance their actions and began to have more possession of the ball. Even though they had more offensive volume, São Bernardo hardly bothered goalkeeper Max Walef, who made safe saves when required.
In the second half, Inter de Limeira put the ball on the ground. Exchanging passes on the defensive line, the team knew how to slow down the match and undermine São Bernardo’s attack. The visitor could barely step into the opponent’s area and abused long-range shots.
In the final stretch, the home team tightened their defense and tried to exchange passes to waste time. Without much emotion, Inter de Limeira paced the game and managed the result until the final whistle.
At the weekend, São Bernardo visits Ponte Preta on Sunday, at 8 pm, in Campinas. Inter de Limeira was given a forced break, due to São Paulo’s participation in the decision of the Brazilian Super Cup, against Palmeiras, also on Sunday.
