Gianni Infantino announced it personally: Inter Miami received the 31st ticket for the 2025 Club World Cup and was allowed to play the opening match. This leaves only one spot open.

FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund could face Lionel Messi next summer. Like the two Bundesliga clubs, the reigning world champion Inter Miami can also take part in the 2025 Club World Cup in the USA, which will be held for the first time with 32 clubs.
FIFA rewarded Inter for finishing the MLS regular season as the team with the most points. It was already clear that the world association would award a ticket to a team from the host country, but it was not yet clear according to which criteria. Inter, who missed out on qualifying for the Club World Cup via the CONCACAF Champions Cup, can now look forward to a win ahead of the rest of the MLS.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced the news personally during a fan and team celebration after Inter’s final regular season match against New England Revolution (6-2), in which Messi shone with a hat trick. “You have shown that you are the best club in the USA right now,” said Infantino. “I am therefore pleased to announce that you will be one of the best teams in the world to represent the USA in the new FIFA Club World Cup 2025.”
Inter opens the Club World Cup in Miami – but not in its home state
In addition: Inter can even play the opening game in Miami on Sunday, June 15, 2025 – although not in its home Chase Stadium, but in the Hard Rock Stadium, the home stadium of the NFL team Miami Dolphins.
Inter are 31st out of 32 participants in the Club World Cup. The final ticket goes to the winner of this year’s Copa Libertadores, where Atletico Mineiro (Brazil) and River Plate (Argentina) as well as Botafogo (Brazil) and CA Penarol (Uruguay) will face each other in the semi-finals. As River Plate has already qualified for the Club World Cup elsewhere, if Argentina wins, Olimpia Asuncion (Paraguay) would move up.
