Jakub Kiwior has said yes, and it is a good starting point for Inter in the search for a defender: he is the only missing piece in a puzzle that Simone Inzaghi and the club already consider complete. This is a need to be evaluated calmly, without haste. In search of an opportunity, one that at one point could have been Cabal, who ended up at Juventus. Now Kiwior is at the top of the preferences. Because he fits an identity that combines the requests of Inzaghi and the directives from the ownership. Therefore, they are in favor of a promising player – the 24-year-old Arsenal Pole has a technical background that is, in certain aspects, still unexplored – but also a player ready and capable of covering two positions in defense, namely that of left-center and that of central defender, a sector where De Vrij and Acerbi enjoy the unconditional trust of Inzaghi but must still deal with their age. Hence, Kiwior is preferred over Rodriguez. The Swiss would theoretically be Inzaghi’s very first choice, as he is an intelligent player and may also be available for a not-so-prominent role at least at the start, also for balance reasons. However, there continues to be no openness from the ownership regarding the Swiss player, who has mandated sporting director Piero Ausilio to scour the market for the most “suitable” profile, definitely more future-oriented than the Swiss. The opportunity could be represented by Kiwior, who would evidently welcome a move from London to Milan, especially considering the deal that is taking Calafiori to Arsenal.

So far, the Gunners have never opened up to the possibility of a loan. Kiwior was bought for 25 million a year and a half ago, and his valuation has not decreased, even in light of an unstable presence among the starters. But Inter is convinced that time can play in favor of the negotiation. That thus today’s refusal for a loan may turn into availability tomorrow, also setting the conditions for a possible redemption. It would be the perfect falling point because it would allow the club to operate in the market without committing economic resources.

Kiwior is in the lead. More than Rodriguez, about whom has already been written. And it is a preference that dates back quite a while, as the Polish player has been appreciated several times in the past, even live. There is competition for the player, but Inter knows they can play with time. Also because, unlike other clubs, there isn’t much else to do in the market. The situation with Dumfries – as read in the piece beside – is moving towards a happy ending. And then there’s the chapter on strikers, which currently remains blocked by the failed departures of Correa (Aek Athens did not follow up on their interest), Carboni (no purchase proposals have come in so far), and Arnautovic himself. Feelings? Inzaghi would remain as is, at the end of the market. With that little caveat related to the defender: time will tell, he will be satisfied.
