BRASILIA (Reuters) – The Central Bank’s director of monetary policy, Gabriel Galípolo, said on Monday that observation of the Brazilian future interest rate curve shows that market agents have removed cut points from the basic interest rate until 2024.

At an event at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), the director considered that the Focus bulletin, which captures the perception of economists for economic indicators, has presented “fewer revisions” on the terminal interest rate and inflation in 2024 .

Galípolo also stated that the payment of a rate above 5% by the United States government in the remuneration of its securities “is never comfortable for emerging countries”.
