BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed hope that the interim government will complete its reforms as soon as possible and go towards the elections.

He said, we think they are working. We are ready and committed to give them time-opportunity for this work. Hopefully, they will complete their reforms soon and go for elections.

He said this in a press conference at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan on Thursday (September 12).

Referring to the present time as very important, Mirza Fakhrul said, yesterday the chief adviser addressed the nation. There he announced reforms, naming a committee for them. In this speech he roughly announced his aim.

Drawing attention to the chief adviser’s statement on public administration, Mirza Fakhrul said that this government is completely new. Secondly, what Awami League has done for so long in the administration, while politicizing it, most of them have promoted people of their opinion. As a result, discipline will take time. It is not possible to hire new people here. You have to work with what you have. We have to have that patience.

Mirza Fakhrul commented that a circle is working in a very planned manner to thwart the uprising of the students. He said, fascism Sheikh Hasina is sitting there and spreading bad propaganda against the country. At the same time, there is an attempt to create an instability in the industry. I urge the people of the country to stop this plot. This government has come through a movement, hopefully they will reflect the hopes and fears of the people.

Referring to International Democracy Day on September 15, Mirza Fakhrul said, our standing committee has decided to observe this day seriously in order to institutionalize democracy. That is why we have given 2 days program.

He said, as part of the program, a rally will be held at Shaheed Minar on September 14. In that rally, the relatives of those who were martyred and persecuted in the last 15 years while agitating for democracy will be gathered. There will be various cultural programs in that gathering. And on the 15th, there will be a rally in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan.

Mirza Fakhrul claimed that during the Awami League government, thousands of leaders and activists were disappeared and murdered. He said, about 60 lakh cases have been filed in the name of activists. Our leader Khaleda Zia has been sentenced in a false case and imprisoned for almost 6 years. He was freed through the movement of students.
