Dhaka University’s Philosophy Department Chairman and Al-Quds Committee Bangladesh President Professor Dr. Shah Kawsar Mustafa Abululai presided over the event as the guest of honor was Seyyed Reza Mir Mohammadi, Cultural Counselor of the Iranian Embassy in Dhaka and Bangabandhu Researcher and Security Analyst Major (Retd) Mohammad Afizur Rahman.

Senior lawyer of Bangladesh Supreme Court, Advocate A. K. M. Badruddoja.

Islami University Bangladesh Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sheikh Abdus Salam said that the International Al Quds Day is being celebrated at a time when the brutal attacks of the Zionist Israel on the Palestinian Gaza Strip continue. From October 7, 2023, Zionist Israel began a new massacre of the oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank of the Jordan River. According to the latest statistics, more than 33 thousand Palestinians have been martyred in their attacks. More than 74,000 were injured. In addition, the barbaric attack by the Zionists in the Gaza Strip has caused the loss of nearly 20 billion dollars in property. It will be very sad if the world’s conscience does not wake up after so much destruction and loss of life in Palestine in these few months. However, in the current context of Palestine, the world’s biggest power, the United States They are forced to change their policies. The way Palestinians continue to resist the barbaric aggression of Israel, the victory of Palestine will come one day.

Speaking as a special guest at the event, Mansoor Chavoshi, ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Bangladesh, said that the International Quds Day is celebrated every year on the last Friday of the month of Ramadan. Imam Khomeini (RA), the founder of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, announced the observance of this day to express solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians and to condemn the aggression of the Zionists in Palestine and to make the people of the world aware of it. Since then, people around the world have been declaring their solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine and Gaza by celebrating this day. This day can be considered as a great opportunity to take united initiative to solve the problem of Palestine. Muslims should consciously grasp this opportunity and take united action to solve the problem.

Sayyed Reza Mir Mohammadi, Cultural Counselor of the Iranian Embassy in Dhaka, said that this year’s International Quds Day is completely different from other years. Because, this year, the terrible disaster of humanity in Palestine, the worst and most brutal genocide in history, is making our hearts very heavy. We can see two things from this ongoing attack and genocidal campaign by the Zionist aggressor state of Israel on civilians, including innocent and unarmed Palestinian women and children – that is the surprisingly silent role of the world’s leading countries and organizations in the face of such horrors. And contrasted with the incredible faith and resistance of the Palestinians in the face of such brutal oppression.

Imam Khomeini (RA) declared this day as Islamic Day. It is because of his announcement that today Al-Quds Day has a global dimension. The happy thing is that today there are mass awakenings, protests and marches in the western countries in support of the Palestinians. Thousands of people took to the streets to demand humanity. Israel and its allies have been under tremendous pressure. We are hopeful that one day this oppressive state will fall and Palestine and Al Quds will be free again. And in this journey of Palestine, the Islamic Republic of Iran has been by their side for the past 40 years and will continue to be in the future.

Other speakers at the event said that the Holy City of Al Quds or Baytul Muqaddas is the third holiest place in Islam after the holy Makkah Mu’azzama and Madinah Munawara, where the first Qibla of Islam, Masjid al-Aqsa, is located. Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) traveled to Miraj from Masjid al-Aqsa. So Baitul Muqaddas is not an ordinary land like many other lands of the world. The world imperialist and colonialist clique fueled sectarian Jewish Zionists and took away the rights of Palestine. They are carrying out one massacre after another and brutally evicting Muslims from towns and villages. Palestinians continue to struggle and fight against Israel, which is occupying Palestine. Muslims of the world should express solidarity with the struggling Palestinians.

Before the event, a procession demanding the liberation of Al Quds took place from the North Gate of the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram.
