International Day of Commemoration and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism

by times news cr

Every year, on August 21, the United Nations (UN) commemorates the International Day of Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, to remember those who were victims.

These acts, which are driven by hateful ideologies, cause the death and suffering of thousands of innocent people every year.

Despite international condemnation, victims and survivors are calling for their rights to be respected. However, those affected feel abandoned once their needs are met.

However, the lack of resources and the capacity of Member States to address the long-term needs of victims makes full rehabilitation difficult.

The organization said that “multidimensional” support is needed, including physical, psychological, social and financial measures.

In response to this emergency, the United Nations is providing assistance in implementing the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy by promoting solidarity, capacity building, networking and supporting civil society, especially victims’ associations.

In addition, the UN works with States and associations to address the needs of victims through technical assistance and training.
