Nov. 14 to Dec. 14 world films will be screened at the fair till 16

Riyadh: The 10th Ambassador’s Choice International Film Festival organized by the Indian Embassy has kicked off. In collaboration with the embassies of 13 foreign countries, the festival will be held from November 24 to December 16 and 14 films in different languages of the world will be screened. Mishal Alsaleh, Director of Asian Affairs at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, inaugurated the fair in a ceremony held at the embassy headquarters in Riyadh. Indian Embassy Sharshe Dafe MR. Sajeev and representatives of various embassies were present on the stage.
The official poster of the film festival was released by the special guests. Sharshe Dafe MR. Sajeev expressed gratitude in his speech. He pointed out that more than 2000 films are produced in India a year. The Indian film industry ranks first in the world in terms of the number of films released annually. He added that although the film industry in Saudi Arabia has emerged recently, it has already established a strong presence globally and has produced many excellent films in recent times.
Algeria, Australia, Bangladesh, Cuba, France, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Norway, Philippines, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sudan and America are cooperating with the film festival.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by ambassadors of various countries, Saudi citizens, journalists, expatriate Indians and expatriates of other countries. 14 films are being screened in various categories. Shams Almaarif, Braille Ki Barfi, Frida, Un Querenta Chino, The Sapphires, Habanastation, You Will Die at Twenty, Hope, Delicious, Bar Boy’s Haseena, A Daughter’s Tale, Koda, Heliopolis and The Newspaper will be screened at the Embassy Auditorium on different days. The film festival is being organized as part of the 75th anniversary celebrations of India’s independence and India-Saudi diplomatic relations, the embassy said in a press release.
