International Film Festival; Eight survival views from the conflict zone

Thiruvananthapuram: Eight films will be screened at the International Film Festival on the survival of war-torn people. Films from Afghanistan, Kurdistan and Myanmar are included in the Framing Conflict category.
Zahra Karimi’s film Hawa Mariam Ayesha, which is screened in the Afghan films category, is about the different life crises faced by three pregnant women. Other films in this category include Naveed Mahmood’s Drawing in Holy Water and Golden Globe Award winner Siddique Burma’s Opium War, which symbolize how religion and faith influence life.
The category also includes Kurdistan films Kilometer Zero, directed by Hiner Saleem, and Bahman Khobadi’s Maroon in Iraq. Kilometer Zero’s theme is the adventurous life of young soldiers traveling through the Iraq-Kurdish battlefield. The Myanmar films in this category are Money Has for Legs, directed by newcomer Maung Sun, and the thriller films Strangers House and Three Strangers.
