International Nora Jazz Festival a Resounding Success

The 15th edition of the International Nora Jazz Festival ended on Sunday 11th August in one of the most spectacular natural stages in all of Sardinia, the Roman Forum of Nora, with a resounding public success. The opening act was the jazz revelation Dominique Fils-Aimé Quintet. Also on stage with her were Harvey Bien-Aimée (drums); Étienne Miousse (guitar); David Osei-Afrifa (keys); Danny Trudeau (bass). Sergio Bernal (photo) also took to the stage afterwards, a special event to mark the festival’s 15th anniversary. He is considered the king of flamenco, former principal dancer of the National Ballet of Spain, a true international star of classical ballet and Spanish classical music, present at the most important dance galas around the world, from New York to London, from Moscow to Dubai, from Madrid to Rome.

The next stop was the gypsy jazz nightingale Tatiana Eva-Marie. Singer, actress and bandleader hailed as the “millennial shaking up the jazz world”, Tatiana was born in Switzerland but lives between Paris and New York. Tatiana is best known as the vocalist of the Avalon Jazz Band, a vintage-style group that has reached over 70 million views on YouTube. Awarded Best Female Artist and Best Jazz Album at the Estonian Music Awards. Capable of making music through a highly emotional narrative, combining catchy rhythms and blending elements of pop, jazz and folk, this artist is gifted with a very personal, agile and highly expressive voice. On the stage of Nora she performed in a duo with the award-winning bassist Mihkel Mälgand, with whom she signed the album “In Duo with Mihkel Mälgand” published in 2020 under the legendary label ACT.

On Thursday 8 August it was the turn of the beautiful and talented Cecilia Krull to take the stage at Nora Jazz. Known worldwide for “My Life Is Going On”, the theme song of the famous Netflix series “La Casa di Carta”, the Spanish singer is actually a complete artist, dedicated and passionate about music since she was a child. Her father was a pianist and her mother was a singer. Cecilia’s musical career began at the age of seven with some Disney productions. Ten years later she fell in love with jazz music and began to perform on stages throughout Europe, always leaving room for experimentation. Thanks to her meeting with the Spanish composer Manel Santisteban, who was struck by her refined and at the same time powerful vocals, Cecilia has interpreted numerous successful soundtracks. The single “My Life Is Going On” has more than 500 million plays worldwide.

Closing the lineup of the XV International Nora Jazz Festival, on Sunday 11 August, was the singer, composer, pianist of Estonian origin, Kadri Voorand. A charismatic improviser, Kadri was awarded Best Female Artist and Best Jazz Album at the Estonian Music Awards. Capable of making music through a highly emotional narrative, combining catchy rhythms and mixing elements of pop, jazz and folk, this artist is gifted with a very personal, agile and highly expressive voice. On the stage of Nora she performed in a duo with the award-winning bassist Mihkel Mälgand, with whom she signed the album “In Duo with Mihkel Mälgand” published in 2020 under the legendary ACT label. She did not fail to thrill the audience with a concert full of powerful and bold improvisations.
