Also, the story of two sisters is shown in it. However, how this serial is different from other serials for the audience, how the actor was approached for this serial, he told everything in a special conversation with ‘Navbharat Times.com’. Read some excerpts from the interview-

How challenging was your character in ‘Mangal Lakshmi’ for you? We have seen such characters before also, in Anupama’s Vanraj Shah and Saubhagyavati Bhava, we saw such a person who suppresses his wife. How much effort did you put into separating it?

I have always played a good boy, sweet boy. This is the first character in 17-18 years who is a little grey. This is a very real and relatable character. He is an IT engineer. He loves his mother very much and wants her mother’s approval for everything and Mangal was not his choice, but his mother’s choice. But he got married for his mother. But he later realizes that he is trapped in the marriage. He is not happy in his marriage. Mars is not equal to him. He deserves better than that. But now that he is married and has children, he is in frustration.

But we have seen all these qualities in Vanraj also, all the same things happened with him also. So how did you try to differentiate this character?

I haven’t seen Anupama so I don’t know. This story is a little different. In Anupama she was fighting for herself. It is not so here. And Adit’s character is not negative. It’s very real. There is also a story of a man. Who goes to office. Stays there the whole day. Listens to things from his boss. There, he has to suppress his ego and work because he has to provide for his family. Then when he comes home he is unhappy with his wife. That is the frustration. It is not like Saubhagyavati Bhava. This is an ordinary person. Such a character will be found in every other house.

How was the experience of working with Deepika Singh? She has already done a popular show ‘Diya Aur Baati’ and is a famous face. Did something happen on the set?

It was great working with him. When we also did a mock shoot, I did it with three girls. Deepika was also in it. I came home and told my friends and also the director that the connection and vibe I had with Deepika was very special. Our directors also said the same and our creators also said that you two will make a great couple. The chemistry between us was also great. It came out exactly as he wanted. So they cast together. We both were doing well and looking good together. Deepika is also a very good actress. She is pure at heart. And talks a lot.

You are shooting with Deepika Singh, so did any funny incident happen with her?

She talks a lot. She doesn’t even allow anyone in front of her to speak. There was an incident which was really funny. Our call timing was 4 in the morning. This sounds good but when you are sitting in the car and going to the location, you want peace at that time. But when Madam started talking, she did not stop. I told him to let me take some rest. I need some peace. But she does not remain silent. He’s like a tape recorder. Once it starts, it will continue. Can’t close. Then I was just listening. I was trying to persuade him to become quiet now. But he doesn’t care. She will keep talking.

Interview: Shahid Kapoor remained sitting at home for 7 months after ‘Kabir Singh’, this is how the actor’s life changed after the arrival of wife Mira.

How were you approached for this role? How did you join this industry?

My first show was from Kasamh. Before that came from a reality show. I am from Calcutta. I come from a business family. But I was not at all interested in business. After this I did modeling and then went to Mr. India. But before all this I graduated because I had to do it. Mother used to say that marriage will not happen. Will not find a good girl. So I did B.Com. But my mother knew that I was interested in modeling, so she filled my form for Mr. India. After that did a reality show again. Then auditions took place. Didn’t have to struggle much. I auditioned for Balaji and they liked my audition. I very quickly got the biggest show in 3 months. So I consider myself lucky. And for this role also I got a call from the casting director and he signed me.

Did things like casting couch ever happen to you? Did you see struggle, feel financial problems, when you came to Mumbai?

No, nothing like this happened to me. When I was modeling, I had earned some money, so I had enough money for three months. Then we started getting back to back shows. So no struggle was seen. There was support from the family so there was no financial problem.
