Interview with Macron: Borne will have to “build a government program” and “expand” the majority

by time news

Against the backdrop of strong opposition to the pension reform, Emmanuel Macron assures Elisabeth Borne of his confidence this Wednesday. The President of the Republic calls on his Prime Minister to “build a government program” and “enlarge the majority”. During an interview on TF1 and France 2 he considers that there is “no alternative majority”.

“She has my confidence to lead this government team,” he underlines, specifying that he asked her “to build a legislative program, a government program (…) to have both fewer laws, texts shorter, clearer, to also change things for our compatriots in a more tangible way”.

The purpose of the approach is to facilitate the adoption of texts in parliament. Emmanuel Macron evokes a “co-construction of a parliamentary agenda with all the forces of the two chambers”.

In recent days, political calls have multiplied to call either for the resignation of the head of government and for the dissolution of the National Assembly, or for a withdrawal of the text of the pension reform, or for a referendum on the subject. .

On the far right, Marine Le Pen said she would not play “firefighters”. “I saw Elisabeth Borne in September and I told her: If you use 49.3 to pass a pension reform, don’t count on me to play firefighters – as I was able to do at the time of the Yellow Vests when things started to heat up very strongly -, because you will have put fire. “I will not participate a second time in coming to put out a fire or try to participate in putting out a fire that you have started,” she continued.
