Former Head of AMN Discusses Hezbollah Speech and Israel’s Response

In a recent interview on 103FM, Major General Amos Malka, former head of AMN, shared his thoughts on the upcoming speech by Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah. Malka emphasized that the real concern lies not in the outcome of the speech, but rather in the potential actions that may follow.

“We are currently in a focused fight on the southern front, but we see what happened in the last few weeks on the northern border. We are currently trying to avoid opening a front,” Malka stated. He highlighted the delicate situation Israel finds itself in, as it strives to prevent conflict escalation while remaining vigilant to threats from various fronts.

Addressing the question of Iran’s interest in pushing Hezbollah towards war, Malka expressed his belief that it is not in Iran’s immediate interest to do so. “I think that Iran has built these capabilities for Hezbollah for the moment when Iran will need it, and less for the moment when the participation tax in Hamas’ operations is given,” he explained.

Malka also assessed Nasrallah’s interest, predicting that the Hezbollah leader will make efforts to avoid getting involved in a broad military operation. He acknowledged the inherent risks in calculated strategies and cautioned against dangerous miscalculations.

The former head of AMN also criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s conduct during the ongoing conflict. Malka accused Netanyahu of focusing more on shifting blame and preparing an exit strategy rather than actively leading the war effort.

“If all of it was focused on combat, we would see exactly what we see with the commanders of the army and Shin Bet. That they will later return to investigations with courage and integrity, but right now they are solely in the conduct of the war and they also use the word responsibility, by the way. A word that has somewhat disappeared in Jerusalem,” Malka added.

Malka’s insights shed light on the complex dynamics at play amidst the escalating tensions in the region. As Israeli forces continue their ground maneuver and mourn the loss of Deputy Yuval Zilber in the battle in the north of the Gaza Strip, the anticipation surrounding Nasrallah’s speech tomorrow heightens. The international community watches closely, hoping for a de-escalation of hostilities and a renewed focus on peaceful resolutions.
