The interview conducted by Santo y Seña with the dangerous Uruguayan drug trafficker, Sebastián Marset, a fugitive from international justice, continues to give something to talk about. The conversation was carried out by the journalist and producer of the space, Patricia Martín, who traveled to Paraguay through means that are still being discussed.

Videos and screenshots went viral on social networks in which it was questioned that the interview was carried out, showing alleged inconsistencies between the plans and the tattoos that Marset has. “Now I laugh, but I was very angry with a lot of people,” Martín began before the broadcast of the second part, and showed the aforementioned viral videos. “Likewise, they are getting a lot of views thanks to me,” she added.

Regarding the criticism from the Paraguayan authorities, Martín expressed: “I find it shameful and I am very sorry that there are Paraguayan police officers denying this interview.” The program included speeches from various authorities, including Rubén Aguilar, current director of Airports of the National Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (Dinac), who had denied that Martín had used two helicopters.

Martín’s response was that he had not revealed details about his movements in Paraguay. to avoid putting Marset’s safety at risk. He admitted that he had taken a second plane into the country, to Ciudad del Este, and it was after that that he used the helicopters provided by the drug trafficker.

“It took Paraguayans a week to realize my trips, which I made with my own ID in a completely legal manner,” he noted, adding: “It is obvious that those flights were clandestine. “I was in contact with several Paraguayan colleagues and what they tell me is that in Paraguay there are 20 clandestine planes a day that drop drugs, that is known.”

Are the camera shots incongruous?

The journalist explained that she traveled without cameramen and that the phones were set by people from Marset. “Now, they talk about there being a third camera, through my reverse shot. The people who were interviewed by me told me that it was clear that those who questioned me had not been interviewed by Santo y Seña,” she explained.

She stressed that she had to be her own camerawoman with the equipment she had on hand. During the course of the program, it is common for interviews to be carried out outside the studio using two cameras: one focused on a general shot that encompasses the journalist and the interviewee, and another focused exclusively on the interviewee. To add more images, Patricia Martín explained that a reverse shot is used which, in this case, turns out to be manipulated.

In this context, Martín asked Marset to remain seated while the camera captured him from behind, with her in the foreground. The content of the conversation at that time was secondary, since the main objective was to obtain brief segments of the journalist’s facial expression and then insert them interspersed during the interview.

“If you see the image, Marset has the curtain in the background, but I have the house in the background and they didn’t want it to be seen. So I changed chairs with Marset, that’s why I can see a curtain that matches in the background, because it is effectively the same curtain,” he answered when asked about the background coincidence.

“When you do an interview you can’t break the axis and I broke the axis with the reverse shot, that’s why what the editors did was mirror it, that’s why it seems like you can see the left neck, but it’s the right one,” he continued.
