Introducing the New Dyson Airwrap i.d.: Smart App Connectivity and Precision Styling Without Heat Damage

With the Airwrap i.d. Multi-Styler and Dryer* from the hair care sector, the British technology company Dyson is presenting its first app-compatible tool. The new version of the award-winning device is now equipped with wireless Bluetooth technology, making styling easier and more optimized, Dyson announced on Thursday, September 5, 2024. According to this announcement, users can personalize their hair profile and automatically create, style, and fix curls with just one click.

The versatility of the Dyson Airwrap i.d. Multi-Styler and Dryer has been enhanced by three new attachments, bringing the total to 19 different attachments available. Additionally, Dyson engineers have developed an “i.d. curl” personalized styling sequence that can be used with the curling attachments. In the MyDyson app, users can specify their hair type, hair length, and power level to create their hair profile, after which the tool automatically recommends a perfect curling routine.

With one push of a button, i.d. curl activates three steps for perfect, even curls. It wraps, styles, and fixes the hair, making curling so easy. Temperature and airflow are intuitively controlled based on styling preferences.

“User feedback has shown that they appreciate a certain level of comfort in their products. For us, connectivity is about developing options that help them get the most out of their Dyson tools,” explains Low Chen Nyeow, Associate Design Manager at Dyson Beauty. i.d. curl offers ease of use and a personalized experience at the same time. Based on the individual profile, the app guides users through each step to facilitate curling. The customizable airflow and temperature settings adjust the temperature for thermal comfort based on personal wishes, and maintenance notifications remind users to clean the filter. “New attachments also emphasize that the styling tool is suitable for all hair types and does not cause heat damage,” Nyeow further explains.

Three new attachments

According to Dyson, these three new attachments enhance the versatility of the tool, making it suitable for all hair types:

The Airwrap Multi-Styler and Dryer now features a total of 19 commercially available attachments for even greater versatility with the addition of the three new ones. Each set will be delivered with six attachments in a presentation box designed by Dyson, the company announced at the product launch. Owners can also explore the full range of attachments to complement their sets.

Avoiding heat damage: temperature stays below 150 degrees

The Dyson Airwrap i.d. Multi-Styler and Dryer* uses primarily air, in addition to heat, to change the bonds within the hair structure and transform it into a new style. The use of air helps add volume to the curls and avoids heat damage. The tool features intelligent temperature control to measure and regulate heat. By keeping the temperature below 150 degrees Celsius, it protects hair from heat damage and maintains shine across all hair types.

The new Dyson Airwrap is powered by a Dyson Digital Motor V9 developed by an internal expert team. In conjunction with the unique styling attachments, the motor styles the hair without extreme heat and with the use of air.

Regular maintenance of the Dyson Airwrap i.d. ensures optimal functionality. Through the MyDyson app, users can now check their filter status and view instructions for filter cleaning as well as troubleshooting. Additionally, a white LED on the tool blinks when it is time to clean the filter.

Two different execution sets available in two colors each

To enhance the user experience, Dyson announced that there will be a phone/tablet holder on the lid of the presentation box to facilitate the initial connection and setup of the i.d. curl for this smart beauty tool. The Airwrap i.d. Multi-Styler and Dryer* comes in two different execution sets for different hair types:

  • Dyson Airwrap i.d. Straight+Wavy: Suitable for straight to wavy hair, this set includes, among other things, the 40 mm long Airwrap curling attachment and the drying and flyaway-smoothing attachment.
  • Dyson Airwrap i.d. Curly+Coily: Suitable for curly to coily hair, this set includes the new waves and curls diffuser and the wide-toothed comb attachment.

Both executions also include the new conical Airwrap curling attachment, the smoothing brush, the large round volumizing brush, and the fast-drying attachment. The Dyson Airwrap i.d. Multi-Styler and Dryer has been available since September 5, 2024, for a price of 549 euros (RRP) in Ceramic Patina/Topaz or Vinca Blue/Topaz in all Dyson demo stores and on the Dyson online shop.
