Justice is interested in certain actions within the Council of the Grand Est region. An investigation is underway for acts of sexual assault and harassment, which prompted the elected official concerned to withdraw.
“It is a preliminary investigation”, declared the prosecutor of Colmar Catherine Sorita-Minard, confirming information from the Latest news from Alsace. According to the regional daily, an Alsatian adviser from the majority group (LR, centrists and independents) broke into the home of one of his colleagues and sexually assaulted her. The facts date back to last summer.
Names of assailant and victim not released
The newspaper does not, however, specify the names of the alleged aggressor or victim, but indicates that employees, former employees and elected officials are questioned as part of the investigation. The president of the Grand Est region, the centrist Franck Leroy, for his part indicated in a press release that he had been informed that “a complaint has been lodged by one of the elected representatives of the Regional Council against another elected representative, for alleged acts of sexual assault” and that his chief of staff “immediately made contact with these two elected officials”.
