In an ongoing investigation, three boys were released from their detention in connection to the lynching of a boy in a park in Petah Tikva. Authorities reveal that indictments are expected to be filed against at least five of the individuals within the next two weeks, where they will face charges of serious assault.
The investigation has seen investigators conducting various interrogation exercises over the past few days. Some of the boys voluntarily turned themselves in, while authorities attempted to determine their level of involvement in the brutal attack. Footage of the incident made the rounds on social media, exposing the severity of the assault. A police officer noted, “The videos speak for themselves. We see exactly who did what. Collecting evidence and additional findings will help us see the full picture.”
Police reports indicate there have been three separate incidents in the past month and a half involving the eight boys, aged between 14 and 17. These incidents all occurred in parks and streets within Petah Tikva. The first event, which involved rival gangs, ended with heated confrontations and verbal abuse. Two weeks later, the same eight individuals assaulted a boy from a rival gang, alleging that he had ambushed them, a claim the victim denied. Subsequently, another boy fell victim to violent beatings and gun threats as an act of “revenge.”
During the investigation, some of the boys provided conflicting accounts of events, while others incriminated themselves. A police source familiar with the matter stated, “Today, we understand the role of each and every person involved in this case. This is a very serious matter that should not be taken lightly, even when it involves high school students.” A lawyer from the Central District is providing legal guidance throughout the investigation.
