The investigations continue into the death of Lorena Paolini, the 53-year-old found dead in her home in the industrial area of Ortona
The Carabinieri of the scientific investigative section returned this morning to Ortona for an inspection of the home, which is under seizure, of Lorena Paolini, 53 years old, who was found by her husband, Andrea Cieri, on the couch in critical condition on August 18 and who soon passed away, despite the 118 rescue team’s attempt to revive her. This is a suspicious death since a mark on the woman’s neck has led to discounting the possibility of a natural illness, prompting the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Chieti to open an investigation for voluntary homicide against unknown persons.
This morning, the Carabinieri of Ortona also returned to the Prosecutor’s Office in Chieti for a meeting with the head of the investigation, deputy prosecutor Giuseppe Falasca, who has already interrogated several witnesses at the Carabinieri barracks in Ortona, twice, on the afternoon of the 18th and then yesterday afternoon, starting from the relatives of the woman, who is a mother of two daughters. As for the autopsy, it will likely be entrusted on Thursday to forensic doctor Cristian D’Ovidio, who already performed a preliminary inspection of the body immediately after the incident. Tensions surround the case: yesterday afternoon, crews from Rai and Mediaset conducted live broadcasts but kept about a hundred meters away from the Cieri home, as a family member did not want the house to be filmed. Before the broadcasts went on air, the Carabinieri intervened on site.
