The Nice prosecutor’s office informed Agence France-Presse on Saturday July 8 that an investigation targeting singer Izïa Higelin for “public provocation to commit a crime or misdemeanor” had been opened, after the artist mentioned a lynching of Emmanuel Macron during a concert on Thursday.
“It is the territorial brigade of the gendarmerie of Beaulieu-sur-Mer (Alpes-Maritimes) and the research brigade” which are seized of the investigation, added the public prosecutor of Nice, Xavier Bonhomme, confirming initial information from Nice morning. He clarified that the investigation did not follow a complaint.
Evoking the Head of State, during his concert Thursday evening in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, as part of the Les Nuits Guitare festival, the artist imagined how he could be publicly lynched by the spectators.
