The Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the opening of an expanded investigation into a fire that broke out in one of the Electrical Works Company’s warehouses in Tripoli, causing serious material damage.
According to a statement issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, a team of investigators moved to the site of the incident to inspect the damage and determine the cause of the fire. Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire resulted from placing flammable materials near electrical energy production and transmission equipment, which led to a fire in the warehouse in which it was located. It contains electrical components valued at 179 million 370 thousand and 264 euros.
Criminal suspicions and arrests
The statement indicated that investigations showed that there was a criminal suspicion behind the incident, as it was suspected of intentionally setting the fire after incidents of embezzlement of the warehouse’s assets occurred.
A number of company officials, including administrative, commercial, warehouse, security and safety officials, in addition to two security guards, were arrested pending investigation.
Prosecute those involved
The Tripoli Court of Appeal issued orders to arrest and bring in the rest of the suspects, including the chairman of the company’s board of directors, who was absent from the investigations, according to a statement from the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
