The Investigative Committee announced the arrest of President and co-founder of the Siberian Business Union (SDS) Mikhail Fedyaev, general director of the company Gennady Alekseev, technical director of the company Anton Yakutov and chief engineer of LLC Listvyazhnaya Anatoly Lobanov. Earlier this was reported by sources of Kommersant in law enforcement agencies.
“Depending on the role of each, they are charged with committing crimes under Part 3 of Art. 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence) and Part 2 of Art. 201 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of authority in a commercial organization, which entailed grave consequences), ”the ICR said in a statement. The investigation intends to apply for the arrest of all four of them.
Mr. Fedyaev owns 50% of the shares of SDS-Ugl. On December 2, he and Mr. Alekseev told Russian President Vladimir Putin that they were ready to bear responsibility for the deaths of people at the mine.
An explosion of a gas-methane mixture took place at the Listvyazhnaya mine on 25 November. As a result, 46 miners and five mine rescuers were killed. As part of the investigation of the incident, five people have already been arrested.
