First, Alexander Bastrykin, together with investigators, examined the crime scene. At the university, he talked with some of its employees, including the commandant of one of the buildings. This woman immediately began to provide first aid to victims of the shooting. The head of the Investigative Committee thanked her for her indifference, efficiency and coordination of actions.
Then an operational meeting took place, at which the head of the Investigative Committee was reported on the progress of the investigation and the planned investigative actions. At the moment, an investigation team of 50 employees has already been formed. It included the most experienced investigators, forensic experts, as well as experts from the Investigative Committee’s Forensic Center.
Now witnesses and eyewitnesses, relatives, friends, classmates of the suspect and other university students are being questioned and questioned. The purpose of this work is to clarify the events preceding the crime and the reasons that prompted the student to commit murder. Searches have already taken place, a hunting ticket, documents for weapons and other materials that are important for the investigation have been seized. The investigation is also checking the procedure for obtaining a student’s permission to purchase hunting weapons, and the recordings from CCTV cameras are being seized.
Forensic medical, ballistic, traceological and other forensic examinations have been assigned, in addition, to assess the mental state of the defendant, he will undergo a comprehensive psychological and psychiatric examination.
The head of the UK gave several specific instructions for further investigation. So, investigators will study the procedure for ensuring security at the university, check it for compliance with all the requirements established by current legislation. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee handed the insignia “For Service to the Law” to the inspector of the 1st platoon of the 1st company of the 1st battalion of the traffic police regiment of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Russian MIA Administration for Perm, Konstantin Kalinin, who neutralized the gunman.
Bastrykin, together with his first deputy Eduard Kaburneev, head of the educational work department of the SK Sergei Petrov and other employees of the department, laid flowers at the formed people’s memorial near Perm University. They also visited the victims who are now undergoing treatment at the Perm Regional Clinical Hospital.
