In an interview with Chiportal, Kielf explains that over the course of two years, the same group examined the products of dozens of Lidar companies and eventually chose Invis. He said the company is preparing for mass production of the InnovizTwo detector and the computer vision software layer and will expand into a new building in Rosh HaAyin
“Direct sales of Invis’ lead system to one of the major automotive groups will bounce the company into high districts after BMW’s push,” said Omar Kilf, CEO and partner of Invis in an interview with Chiportal following the announcement today (Mon, 2 / 5/22 (because one of the largest car manufacturers in the world has chosen Invis to be its direct LiDAR supplier for the range of car brands under the group. The company is meanwhile prevented from publishing the group’s name.
“We are proud to be the direct supplier for one of the largest automotive companies in the world for series production of the group.” So says in an interview to-Chiportal Omar Kilef, CEO of Invis, following the announcement earlier today of winning a tender in which it defeated dozens of lidar companies from around the world, as part of which it will directly supply its lidar. The win will increase the expected total orders by $ 4 billion, to a total of $ 6.6 billion. In an interview with Chiportal, Kielf says: “This is a project that we are working on for two years. We managed a two-year process in which we invested quite a bit of effort, we took a high risk. There are two important aspects of the current deal compared to the previous and important deals per se with BMW: First we will sell the systems directly and not through a component supplier this car compared to BMW where we were a TIER 2 supplier.
“This is a number of models from all the brands in the group, the deal size is in the region of $ 4 billion and they expect the number to increase when other brands in the group are already examining how they can use the technology.”
“It’s obviously a very big event. This is the first time that a decision has been made for serial production by a company of this size, which is why we have invested quite a bit of effort. This is a very significant event because it is clear that small car companies will be able to choose the technology that goes to the market.
“Being a direct supplier of a large group after testing dozens of lidar technologies for two years will give a strong boost to our technology to other companies. We can probably be very competitive in price and quality thanks to mass production. This is a turning point in the group’s history. ”
“The new product, InnovizTwo is amazing in itself. It’s much cheaper, much simpler to manufacture, I believe it could be part of many platforms. At InnovizTwo we made 30x chip improvements – including doubling the resolution 4 times, the range and field of view parameters were also doubled, doubling the frame rate per second, the sensitivity range and lowering the price by seventy percent .:
This is a leap forward that was necessary so that we could offer our technology not only for Autonomy 3 cars, which are mostly premium but also for the vast majority of cars – Autonomy 2.
